- 4 cups beans, cooked or canned, drained
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until fully browned, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess grease, if needed, and transfer beef to a large pot.
Drain beans and add to pot along with tomato sauce, water, chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt and black pepper. Stir until well combined.
Cover and simmer over low heat for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The flavor will continue to develop the longer it simmers.
Taste and adjust salt or seasonings as needed. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
