Prep: 30 minutes | Cook: 30 minutes | Servings: 6-8 hearty portions

Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) box whole wheat ziti (can also use penne or mostaccioli pasta)
  • 1 pound turkey Italian sausage (links or bulk)
  • 1 (16-ounce) jar Alfredo pasta sauce
  • 1 (24-ounce) jar tomato pasta sauce
  • 6 ounces freshly grated parmesan cheese (or more if desired)
  • fresh parsley  for garnish

Preheat oven to 350 F. Cook pasta according to package directions, to al dente (remove pan from stove and let sit for 3 minutes before draining to enhance tenderness). Meanwhile, in a medium skillet, cook the sausage until no longer pink. If using links, slice into 1/2 inch pieces before cooking, or if using bulk, remove casings and break up into crumbles while cooking. Drain access fat. Transfer the cooked/drained pasta back into cooking pan and add the Alfredo sauce. Mix thoroughly and transfer the pasta into a lightly greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Next, add the tomato pasta sauce to the frying pan with the sausage. Stir until combined. Pour the tomato sauce /sausage mixture on top of the pasta in the baking pan. Sprinkle the top with the fresh parmesan cheese. Bake at 350 F for 25 to 30 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley. This recipe will serve at least 6 – 8 people
