Burrito Burgers

Recipe by
Alger Delta Cooperative Electric Association
  • 1 pound ground chuck
  • ½ cup refried beans
  • 1 packet taco seasoning.
  • 3 (8-9 inch) flour tortillas
  • Toppings of choice (shredded cheese, tomato, onion, peppers, black olives, sour cream, guacamole, etc.)

Divide the ground chuck into thirds and form into balls. Flatten the balls between two pieces of parchment paper. Leaving the parchment paper in place, use a rolling pin to further flatten the chuck in a ¼-inch thick circle. Remove top sheet of parchment paper and sprinkle flattened chuck generously with taco seasoning. Place a heaping tablespoon of refried beans in the center of the chuck. Slightly dampen fingers with water and gently spread the refried beans toward one half of the flattened patty. Fold the patty in half making a half circle. Crimp the overlapping edges of the patty to seal in the refried beans. Repeat with remaining two balls of ground chuck. Prepare grill for indirect heat (or skillet). Place the burgers on grate or skillet for 5 minutes. Flip burgers and cook another 5 minutes or until desired doneness. Place the burgers on a tortilla and top with your favorite toppings. Fold tortilla in half around Burrito Burger and enjoy!
